Profit is the new prophet
I will tell you only what you will let me tell you. The things I will say, I assume you already know. This is part of the problem. The facts are there, and they are a great many. The truth lies, as always, in the combination of the facts. An example of this is the obvious following:
Supposed Fact #1
The system wants you to trust in it, it wants you to give it your money to use and to guard, for your best interest.
Supposed Fact #2
The system wants you to live longer and healthier, it wants you to stop drinking, stop using drugs, eat healthier and do sports, this also for your best interest.
Supposed combination of the facts#1 (positive)
How noble a system.[i]
Supposed combination of the facts #2, (negative)
The system lies. If you see the news or read the paper you will see the system is failing both in guarding and in saving your money. There have been serious cutbacks on pensions due to unsafe investments of pension funds based on greed and short term gains. Banks are at risk due to unsafe investments and unsafe fiscal constructions based on greed and short term gains.
Realitycheck #1
The system wants your money. It wants you to live longer and healthier to get more out of you. Why kill the slave early, right? What you will get in return is less pension and a very, very, repetitive life.(with the occasional vacation to make you feel rich and free.)
Cynical remark #1
It seems ‘your best interest’ mentioned above, can be interpreted very liberally indeed.
Now I ask you,
Isn’t it strange to live in a society where everyone writes but no one reads, to live in an age where everyone takes pictures and movies of everything and none has time or interest to see anybody else’s? Is it not strange to be surrounded by people who believe that a good conversation implies speaking alone, and not hearing, by people that cannot distinguish accessibility to all the information in the world from knowledge, or a masters degree from wisdom?
I tell you,
The system is failing in everything but making the rich richer and the poor survive more comfortably.
The difference between our capitalist society and a police state being that a police state chokes you openly, uniting the people, and the capitalist state is gentle enough to bleed you dry in the warm bath of wealth, singling the people out.
Do you hear me when I say there is something wrong if we live in a time and age that in the history of mankind has not been wealthier and more passive, while the number one disease of our near future will be depression and burnout?
Have you forgotten that depression is not a virus the biological sense of the word, but in the sociological sense, like individualism, increased egocentrism and consumism?
Realitycheck #2, (two ‘facts’ from today’s newspaper.)
One,
A ‘ professor’ argues that bankers deserve more respect, because if the people would only respect them more, they would accept their salaries and bonuses more willingly.[ii]
Two,
Social research has ‘proven’ that people with a higher social status tend to behave more immorally.[iii]
Concluding with a proverb:
You reap what you sow.
